about how? a do-or-die for mitt romney n a lot of ways it really is. there are basically three possible outcomes, the way i see it tonight. someone that romney really does get some kind of a lift out of this it's a command performance, maybe some kind of slipup by obama. you think of john kerry in the first debate in 2004. maybe romney is able to revive his campaign tonight. the second possibility is, you know, something goes wrong for romney, he actually loses this debate. obviously that would be terrible for him now the third possibility, to be honest, probably the most likely one is nothing happens it is pace basically a draw, maybe 90 minutes of dull and boring television if that happens, the status quo in this vase affirmed. the status quo in this race has been a steady, stub burn three or four-point lead for barack obama and at that point, romney would be running out of big-moment opportunities to turn this thing around. that's what i'm looking for. here with us now in denver, we have howard fineman, the "huffington post" media group. said he is the buffalo bob of our show. >> now

a fatal affect on fundraising. it's interesting. politico.com had a big picture review of the romney campaign struggles. it included this piece ever since they published it. quote, to get a flavor of the challenge before them, one top donor said that after mitt romney spoke at a fundraising breakfast on friday, a will-mitt win poll was taken at a table of ten men who paid to attend that fundraiser. so at their table of ten men, they asked each other, will mitt win? of the ten men, not a single man said yes. of ten active mitt romney supporters who were actively supporting him at that moment with their money, zero said he will win. and they admit to that at the fundraiser. that's not a phenomenon that can last a super long time. you don't get to sit around at $2500 a plate fundraisers talking about how your guy is going to lose. eventually you're going to stop going to those fundraisers. you will stop throwing good money after bad. luckily for the romney campaign, there is a solution to this potential problem that can be caused by polling. this potential fundraising campaign death spi

give the state to mitt romney. pennsylvania's actually part of a wider trend. measures to restrict voting are being stymied in courts in wisconsin, texas florida arizona, south carolina, and ohio. stymied by the court system. but the not so good news is that these laws are not going away. the pennsylvania law has just been suspended not struck down and other state courts are likely going to consider similar restrictions. pennsylvania is not even seen as a swing state anymore. the president now leads by 8 points according to an average of the polls from real clear politics and both candidates have actually pulled their ads and their money there. but the heat is on in ohio. where early voting started today. over a third of the state's electorate is expected to vote early. and they're already coming out in force in cincinnati last night, dozens camped out overnight waiting to vote this morning and it was the same scene in youngstown, ohio. for this week only, for this week only, voters can register and vote

's margin in 2008. seventy-two among hispanics and it is not that far off. also 22 for romney. what it means is that the idea that obama could get 80% of the minority again it's actually quite plausible based on this and other data. that looks like what it's going to get to. if he doesn't get 80, he will get 7 meters 79. as you can see by the right-hand figures, obama is actually doing better -- which is actually somewhat better than he did in 2000 and one he lost them by 18 points. remember what we said about the outlandishly large margin that mitt romney needs to be with white working-class voters. he is not anywhere close. that is the bottom line. this is true across many polls. you might see a margin of 20 points for mitt romney or a margin of 22 points. nowhere do you see the outside margin that he really needs to win the election. given how he appears to be holding support and then some of college graduate voters so that is where we are now in the national picture. as we know, these elections that we choose to have in the united states are not decided by the popular vote. instead, we h
